Harvard Secondary School Program (SSP)

Harvard Secondary School Program (SSP) is a selective summer academic programme offered by Harvard Summer School for high school students ready for rigorous college-level coursework. Students can choose a 4-week or 7-week format, take one or two credit-bearing courses, and earn official Harvard Summer School academic credit.

Study at a college-level academic standard. Earn 4 or 8 academic credits. Choose from 200+ courses in the 7-week programme. Courses taught by Harvard Summer School faculty and distinguished visiting faculty. Access to research-oriented courses such as Becoming a Brain Scientist: Neuroscience and Psychology Research and Introduction to Immunology with Laboratory Techniques. Access to the Writing Center and tutoring. Study alongside students from around the world. Online option allows students to participate from outside the United States. Receive an official Harvard Summer School transcript with grades. Explore a potential academic major or career path before university. Format: Online / On-campus at Harvard / Commuting

For Summer 2026: students must graduate from high school and enter college in 2026, 2027, or 2028. Must be at least 16 years old by June 20, 2026. Must not turn 19 before July 31, 2026. Strong academic motivation and readiness for college-level study. Ability to manage a significant independent workload: approximately 8–12 hours per week per 4-credit course outside class. Individual courses may have additional prerequisites. International students are eligible.
