Description

The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is the world's premier international mathematics competition for high school students. Held annually since 1959, it brings together national teams from more than 100 countries. Each country may send a team of up to 6 contestants. IMO is not a conventional summer programme. Students qualify through their country's national mathematics olympiad or equivalent national selection system. Each national team consists of up to 6 contestants, plus a Leader and Deputy Leader. Research Areas Algebra Geometry Number Theory Combinatorics Problems require deep mathematical reasoning, rigorous proofs and creative problem-solving.

Requirements

Must be under 20 years old. Must not be enrolled in post-secondary education. Must meet the IMO's school-enrolment requirements. Must qualify through a national mathematical olympiad or equivalent selection programme. A student may not take the final selection examinations of more than one country in the same IMO year. Special rules apply to students representing a country other than their citizenship country.
