International Public Policy Forum (IPPF)

An international written debate competition on public policy for high school students. Teams research a current policy topic, develop evidence-based arguments and compete through multiple rounds of written debates. The top teams are invited to New York City for the live finals.

Combines research, debate and academic writing; international competition; develops argumentation and critical thinking; opportunity to reach the Top 64; Top 8 teams receive a trip to New York City; World Champion receives $10,000.

Eligibility: high school students worldwide. Teams must consist of 3–6 full-time high school students. The first stage requires a 3,000-word qualifying essay on the annual topic. Subsequent rounds involve written responses to opposing teams' arguments. Finalists must travel to New York City for the in-person final. No separate recommendation letter, motivation essay or interview is required.
