Journal of Emerging Investigators (JEI)

An international open-access scientific journal that publishes original research conducted by middle- and high-school students. Manuscripts go through scientific peer review and an editorial process involving graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and scientists.

Middle- and high-school students aged 13+. Initial submission must take place before the student enrolls in university. The manuscript must report original research that tests a hypothesis in the natural sciences. Every manuscript must include at least one student author and a senior author (teacher, professor, postdoctoral fellow, senior graduate student, or parent if research was conducted at home). Students cannot submit manuscripts themselves; an adult must submit on their behalf. Human-subject and vertebrate-animal research requires appropriate approval documentation.
