International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA)

The International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) is an annual international competition for secondary-school students in astronomy and astrophysics. It assesses theoretical knowledge, problem-solving, data analysis and practical observational skills related to celestial objects and astronomical phenomena. The competition brings together talented students with a strong interest in astronomy, physics and space science.

Must be a secondary-school student. Must not be enrolled as a university student at the time of the Olympiad. Generally, contestants must be under 20 years old according to the applicable IOAA eligibility date. Must qualify through the national selection process of the country they represent. Students cannot normally apply directly to the main international competition. Each country normally sends up to 5 contestants. Specific national selection requirements vary by country.
