Description

The International Geography Olympiad (iGeo) is an annual international competition for the world’s best 16–19-year-old geography students. It is held under the auspices of the International Geographical Union (IGU) and consists of three main components: a Written Response Test, a Multimedia Test and a Fieldwork Exercise. The programme also includes team poster presentations, cultural exchanges and excursions.

Requirements

Must be enrolled in secondary school, or have finished school in the year of the Olympiad and not yet commenced regular tertiary education by June 30 of that year. Must be 16–19 years old, inclusive, on August 1 of the Olympiad year. Must qualify through the national geography competition of the country represented. Must be enrolled in the school system of the country represented; citizenship of that country is not required. Must be able to answer test questions in English. A student may participate in iGeo no more than twice. Each country may send a team of up to 4 students.
