International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI)

The International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) is one of the world’s most prestigious international competitions in computer science and programming for secondary-school students. Participants solve challenging algorithmic problems by designing and implementing computer programs under time constraints. The IOI is one of the five international science olympiads and aims to stimulate interest in informatics and bring together exceptionally talented students from around the world.

Must have been enrolled in secondary education in the country they represent during September–December of the year before the IOI. Must be no older than 20 on July 1 of the IOI year. Must qualify through a national selection procedure based on programming and problem-solving ability. Students cannot apply directly to the IOI as individuals. Each participating country normally sends 1–4 contestants. Students studying abroad may represent their country of nationality, subject to the IOI regulations.
