National Reading Movement

A nationwide programme promoting reading culture in Uzbekistan and open to students in Grades 1–11 of general education schools. The initiative aims to develop students’ interest in books, knowledge, independent thinking and intellectual potential. The final stage is held annually at the Presidential level.

Develops reading literacy, general knowledge, critical and independent thinking; provides an opportunity to compete at the national level; offers certificates, recognition and substantial cash prizes; provides strong evidence of sustained academic and intellectual engagement for a student portfolio.

Students in Grades 1–11 of general education schools in Uzbekistan are eligible.
