Neighborhood Hacks

A global online hackathon for high school students where participants use technology to solve real problems in their communities. Students can participate individually or in teams and build an original technology project during a one-week hacking period.

Free participation; global format; beginner-friendly; international teamwork; projects must address real local problems; public code repository and demo video create a strong portfolio project; $9,650+ prize pool.

Eligibility: students currently enrolled in high school or equivalent secondary education, generally ages 14–19, worldwide. No prior experience is required. Students may participate solo or in teams of up to five; team members can attend different schools and live in different countries/time zones. Individual registration is required. Final submission includes a project name/elevator pitch, written description, 2–6 minute demo video and public code repository.
