Description
A highly selective and intensive summer research program at the University of Iowa for students in grades 10–11. Students conduct original research under faculty mentorship, participate in academic activities, and present their findings as a research poster.

Requirements
Eligibility: students currently in grades 10–11. Applicants submit an online application, a non-refundable $95 application fee, two recommendations—one academic and one character reference—two essays of up to 750 words each, a high school transcript, and SAT or ACT scores. Essays address research interests, career aspirations, reasons for applying and expected outcomes. International students may apply; if accepted, they must demonstrate English proficiency and obtain a student visa. Students may attend SSTP only once. Prior research experience is not required, although technical skills and research-method experience may be highlighted. No interview is listed as required.
