The Concord Review (TCR)

An international academic journal that publishes history research papers written by secondary-school students. Published quarterly, TCR accepts submissions from students in the United States and internationally. Founded in 1987, it specializes in serious academic history research by secondary students.

Opportunity to publish substantial historical research in a specialized academic journal; develops research, academic writing, source analysis and citation skills; provides a strong portfolio achievement; published work can also serve as supplementary material in university applications.

Students must complete the paper before finishing secondary school and must not yet have enrolled in college or university. The student must be the sole author. The paper must be in English and unpublished except in a secondary-school publication. Any historical topic is eligible — ancient or modern, domestic or foreign. Recommended length is 5,000–10,000+ words; the average published paper is about 8,500 words. Papers must use Turabian/Chicago endnotes and bibliography.
