The Global Problem-Solving Institute (GPSI)

An international online program by Pioneer Academics in which high school students tackle real-world global challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration. Students apply systems thinking and design thinking while developing university-level research, academic writing, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The program was developed in collaboration with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Undergraduate-level academic experience; work on real-world global challenges; interdisciplinary teamwork; instruction from multiple university professors; development of research, writing, systems-thinking and design-thinking skills; 2 UNC-Chapel Hill college credits upon successful completion with a final grade of C- or higher.

Open to students in grades 9–12. Applicants must have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.3 and no more than one C as a semester or full-year course grade across their high-school academic history. English proficiency can be demonstrated through English-medium schooling; at least two full years of English with grades of B+ or higher; one full year with an A- or higher; or standardized scores of TOEFL 95+, IELTS 7.0+, SAT Evidence-Based Reading & Writing 600+, ACT English & Reading 28+, or AP English Language and Composition 3+. The application requires an official school transcript, teacher evaluation, and GPSI application with multiple short-answer questions. Students may apply to only one course per term.
