Engineering and sustainable energy Started: Grade 10 2 years
In their own words
«I saved deadlines to my saved list and sent six applications in a year. The result — engineering in the Netherlands and a grant to study.»
Internship at IT Park → Conrad Challenge → TU Delft
The full path, step by step
Grade 10First work experienceA summer internship at an IT Park resident company: real tasks and my first letter of recommendation.
Grade 11International competitionThe Conrad Challenge with a project in sustainable energy — teamwork and a defence in front of experts.
Grade 11Planning the applicationsSix applications put together in document blocks instead of last-minute rushes. An offer from TU Delft with a grant.
Mistakes you can avoid
- · I filled in my first two applications in the last week — and the quality of the essays showed it.
- · I didn't request a recommendation in advance: my teacher wrote the letter in a rush.
Advice for students
- Write the deadlines of all your target programmes down in one place — after that, work in blocks.
- Ask for recommendations at least a month in advance and give your teacher a short summary of your projects.
- A technical project matters more than grades: it shows that you can carry something through to a result.
